For Teachers

Teachers from all sectors are invited to join us for education previews, curatorial and artist presentations and workshops. Education Resources are available online to assist with pre-visit, self-guided or post-visit activities. Teachers are able fulfill VIT registration requirements by attending workshops, teacher previews as well as artist or curatorial talks delivered as part of public programming. Certificates of attendance are issued upon request.

SAM Teacher Network – Exhibition Focused Classroom Professional Development

Supported by Department of Education and Training Victoria’s Strategic Partnerships Program and developed in collaboration with artist and teacher, Meg Doller, these sessions are designed to provide regular networking opportunities alongside provision of Professional Development for arts educators based on current exhibitions and SAM’s permanent collection. 

Each session will include professional networking opportunities over afternoon tea, followed by a focussed professional development hour.  Supporting documentation and resources will be provided to allow replication of the learning activity with your class in the classroom. Attendance at these sessions will be certified to support teacher Performance and Development. 

Visual Thinking Strategies in the classroom

Tim James (GVGS) recently returned from intensive VTS training at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. He will share his experience with us, introduce VTS as a learning concept and discuss how he uses VTS in his English classroom. Keep an eye out here for future sessions.
