Ellen Lee: Landscape; of sight, of sound
Ellen Lee | Landscapes; of sight, of sound
21 October 2023 – 28 January 2024
Ellen Lee’s solo exhibition Landscape; of sight, of sound presents a series of large-scale abstract works on paper that explore her personal, sensory experience of nature. Derived from blind contour drawings (a process of drawing without looking at the paper), her works layer gestural marks and pigment to create a mapping of the landscape. Each work is the culmination of notations from multiple excursions, offering to the audience an extended moment to pause and be present.
Ellen Lee is this year’s SAM Spotlight artist, an annual opportunity for local emerging artists to present a solo exhibition in SAM’s Community Gallery.
