SAM at Sunset

In our new, expanded format, SAM will stay open until 8pm on the last Thursday of each month to give you an evening of art, creativity, drinks and music.
Join us for SAM at Sunset on 30 March. From hands-on, creative workshops to illuminating exhibition tours and live music. SAM at Sunset is a full museum experience!
March's SAM at Sunset program:
4- 7 PM: Polyglot Theatre's FEAST family workshop (L4)
Polyglot Theatre bring their popular children's workshop FEAST to SAM, where children are invited to fill their imaginations on creating the dishes of their dreams. In this workshop, children play with materials other than food to make truly delicious, and sometimes really horrible, culinary creations.
FREE - no ticket required. Families are welcome to drop in at any time during the session.
Please note that children under 12 years must be accompanied at all times by an adult.
5.30 - 8 PM: Bar and live music (L1 café)
This month's SAM at Sunset bar will be located within the café and terrace on Level 1.
Tickets are required for entry to this area, and will give you access to:
- The Level 1 terrace and bar (please note: bar service commences at 5.30pm)
- Live music from Daniel Reeves
Your ticket includes:
- One drink from the bar (cash bar available for additional drink purchases)
- Light food offerings
*Tickets to the bar and live music are only available to adults aged 18 and over.
4 - 8PM: SAM SHOP (Ground floor)
Looking for the perfect treat or gift idea? SAM Shop stocks a selection of the best in local and Australian-made homewares, accessories, books and toys.
5.30 - 6PM: SAM FRESH exhibition opening celebration (L2)
Join us in our Community Gallery for the opening celebration and award announcement for FRESH: GV Top Art and Design. This exhibition features the works of 2022's VCE students in Art, Studio Art and Visual Communication Design.
The winners of the FRESH awards will have their artwork featured on the Shepparton Festival Art Wall, located at Stubbs Wallace Accountants on Welsford Street.

6 - 6.30PM: ELEVATION (People's Gallery, L2)
Join artist Ash Keating to find out more about ELEVATION. Learn about Ash's unique process in creating this interconnected series of large-scale panoramic paintings, inspired by our region’s landscape, horizons and weather patterns.
6.30 - 7PM: Dance Me to the End of Love (Lin Onus Gallery, L1)
Join SAM curator Jess O'Farrell for a tour of new SAM Collection exhibition Dance Me to the End of Love. Spanning works from over 39 artists, the show evokes the grand cycles of life, traversing from birth to death through artworks in the SAM Collection.
