SAM Makes: Tracing Memories – a SAM Engagement Ambassador Program

18 March 2023

SAM Makes: Tracing Memories

Tour of Three Hares and hands-on collaborative collage workshop.

Join SAM Ambassador Amber Stephens for SAM Makes: Tracing Memories, an exploration of new ceramics exhibition Three Hares from artist-curator Adam John Cullen. In his work, Cullen reflects on the stories that are attached to the objects we collect over the course of our lives – souvenirs from our travels, or mementoes from times spent with friends.

Participants will enjoy a tour of the exhibition, followed by a hands-on collaborative collage workshop where ideas of collecting, making, and curating are examined through a series of interpretive prompts developed by Cullen. Attendees are encouraged to explore their personal stories by bringing their own sentimental object from home that contains a fond memory, or can alternatively create their own history for a supplied object found and repurposed from local second-hand stores.

Light refreshments to be provided.
