Delightful Afternoons With Riverlinks
9 June 2004
Riverlinks will present an afternoon of quality entertainment this Tuesday 15th June, as part of its successful `Afternoon Delights’ program.
Manager of Performing Arts and Conventions, Rob Robson, said the Afternoon Delights program offered an opportunity for residents to be entertained by a variety of acts during the day.
“It is a particularly important program for those patrons who find it difficult to go out during the evening, and we find it is very well received. Most of our afternoon shows reach full capacity audiences, which is wonderful,”
Mr Robson said.
Past performers at Afternoon Delights sessions have included such Australian icons as Denise Drysdale, Denis Walters and Kamahl.
Mr Don Watt, regular attendee from the 60s Plus and South Shepparton Probus clubs, said the program was a wonderful opportunity for his group members to meet up with friends.
“It is such an important program because it provides a social outlet for those people who would otherwise not leave the house, and who certainly wouldn’t be able to get down to Melbourne to see such quality shows,” Mr Watt said.
“Afternoon tea is always provided and there are often lucky door prizes to be won, so it becomes a real `day out’.”
“The artists who perform often appear afterwards to speak to the audience, which is a big thrill for everyone who goes along,” Mr Watt added.
The next Afternoon Delights performer will be Judy Glenn in `A Comedy of Arias’, a hilarious homage to the world of the operatic diva.
`A Comedy of Arias’ will be held at the Eastbank Centre on Tuesday 15th June at 1.30 pm. Tickets are available at the Riverlinks Box Office on 5832 9511, or in person at the Eastbank Centre, Welsford Street, Shepparton.
