Riverlinks Brings Some Possum Magic to your School Holidays
15 June 2004
Greater Shepparton families can enjoy a taste of Australian bush magic with the new musical production of Possum Magic this school holidays.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Manager of Performing Arts and Conventions, Rob Robson, said the musical celebrates the 21st year of Mem Fox’s beautiful children’s book.
“The musical captures the magic of the story and is a great tribute to this well-loved book,” Mr Robson said.
Possum Magic follows the story of Grandma Poss and her invisible baby possum, Hush, as they journey through the Australian bush making `bush magic’.
“This production of the musical is brought to us by Garry Ginivan, who has previously brought popular children’s shows such as Pinnochio and Peter Rabbit to Riverlinks.”
“The show features life sized puppets, a `toe-tapping’ score and a cast of multi-talented performers,” Mr Robson added.
To celebrate the performances of Possum Magic, Riverlinks, in conjunction with the Shepparton Art Gallery, is holding two Family Fun Days on Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th June.
“Families can enjoy sing-along music with Bianca Fenn and Ryan Meeking, storytelling with Dale Roberts, face painting with Crackles the Clown, art gallery workshops and special tours of the new Play School exhibition.”
“The Eastbank Caf‚ will even have a special `Possum Magic’ menu, complete with lamingtons, pavlova and vegemite sandwiches.”
Possum Magic will be performed at the Eastbank Centre at 6.30 pm on Monday 28th June and 10.30 am on Tuesday 29th June.
