Showcase your creative work in SAM Open! 

Local* artists aged 16+, working in any medium and at any experience level or career stage are invited to submit work for inclusion in SAM OPEN.  

SAM OPEN is an annual open call exhibition that celebrates and showcases the creativity of the artistic community across Greater Shepparton, the Goulburn Valley and the Hume Region.

Theme announcement: October 10 2022
Applications Open: 7 November 2022 
Applications Close: 6 February 2023 
Applicant Notification: March 2023 
Exhibition dates: 29 April – 16 July 2023 

SAM Open 2023: HOME

The theme for SAM Open 2023 is Home. The theme is open to broad artistic interpretation and may be approached from a personal, social, or cultural perspective.  

 Artworks can be in any medium and must have been completed within the last two years.   

 2D works must not exceed 150cm (w) x 200cm (h), including diptychs and triptychs.  

3D artworks must not exceed 100 cm (h) x 100 cm (w) x 100 cm (d).   

 Fees for SAM OPEN 2023 are $40, or $10 if you are an active Friends of SAM member. **  

 * Applications for SAM OPEN will be accepted from artists and creative practitioners who live or can demonstrate a strong connection to the following areas of the Goulburn Valley and the Hume Region: Alpine, Benalla, Campaspe, Greater Shepparton, Indigo, Mansfield, Mitchell, Moira, Murrindindi, Strathbogie, Towong, Wangaratta, and Wodonga.   

 ** SAM OPEN $40 fee includes 1 year of membership to the Friends of SAM. This local organisation engages with the community and Shepparton Art Museum to foster an active cultural landscape in Greater Shepparton.
