A virtual sketchbook club for all

Discover new and exciting ways to fill the blank pages of your sketchbook in this series of online workshops. 

SAM Sketch is a FREE sketchbook club where the aim is to join in, get creative and have fun.

Originally launched in March 2020 in response lockdowns, the workshops have been embraced by an amazingly diverse group of people.

We are excited to launch a new series of SAM Sketch uring our SAM Summer Camp for Kids.

SAM Sketch: Building Superhearoes

Illustration and Character Design with Travis De Vries
10:30-12:00pm for primary school aged kids over ZOOM
1:30-3:30pm for secondary school aged students over ZOOM

In this workshop kids will learn techniques to create narratives and build their own characters. Kids will spend time developing a character, giving them powers, relating them to their surroundings and the basics of illustrating in graphic novel style to bring their character to life.

SAM Sketch: Carving the Way

Lino printing workshop with artist Coree Thorpe

For teens aged 12- 17
$5

Join us for a lino cutting and printing workshop with artist Coree Thorpe. Taking inspiration from Lin Onus’ lino prints, participants will create their own design and print in this workshop.

Bookings via the SAM website. Teens can attend this workshop without a carer.

Coree Thorpe is a Gunnai, Yorta Yorta, Gunditjmara and Wurundjeri artist. Growing up surrounded by art and activism, Coree has always had a passion for creativity, for standing strong in who you are and for ensuring that community and family are at the heart of everything.
