Artist bios
Tori Day is a proud Gunditjmara, Wemba wemba and Yorta Yorta woman. Growing up in an artistic family she discovered a talent for music, weaving and sketching. In sketching she found a fascination with contracts, shadings and making an image come to life. As a left-hander, she weaves "backwards", making her work unique to her.
Suzanne Atkinson is a proud Yorta-Yorta woman, mother, and grandmother. She is an emerging artist who takes inspiration from her mother’s creative talent and her own ability to make artwork from what nature could provide. She practises in a range of different media including traditional weaving, ceramics, painting, poetry, and wood burning. Suzanne more recently studied visual art in a bachelor’s degree of contemporary Art’s/Visual Arts at Deakin University.
Ally Knight is a Yorta Yorta woman from Shepparton. Ally discovered her love for weaving in 2021, having been taught by Suzanne Atkinson. She has since furthered her skills and creates a variety of items including wall hangings and jewellery and has started her own business, Mulana Earth. Ally works at Kaiela Arts as an Arts Centre Assistant and continues to explore and learn about her culture through her work.
